Sacramento River Delta Gravel Beds

Habitat Description:    Extensive rocky to gravelly exposed river delta with willows bordered on the East by Lake Siskiyou and the West by the upper Sacramento River. Rock composition is primarily granite and serpentine washed down from upriver. Subject to seasonal flooding. The most notable plant in this habitat is a very large population of the CNPS listed 1B rare plant, Chaenactis suffrutescens. It is found extensively through the habitat, with denser concentrations near the lake.

Note: This list is a work in progress and not a complete botanical survey as observations were only begun in late July 2004. Also, as the primary purpose of these observations was for gathering native wildflower seed, the grasses and trees are not covered in these findings.
