family- Saxifragacea, Saxifrage elevation- 6700 ft   date- 9/16/03

other names- Grass of Parnassus habitat- montane to sub-alpine streambanks and wet meadows range- California, Nevada, Oregon description- tuft of ovate to lanceolate basal leaves, slender stem supporting single flower with 5 conspicuously veined petals, each bearing a group of spherical-tipped staminodes at the base entymology- Parnassia, from Mount Parnassus in Greece, where fields of this plant were said to be abundant.
