habitat- RARE, shaded slopes, in duff of mixed-evergreen or conifer forest range- Northern CA mountains and coast up to 7000 ft, N to Alaska, E to Montana description- one to three flowers, each above an elliptic to oval leaf, on a single vertical stem up to 2 ft tall, flowers with twisted purplish- brownish linear sepals and showy white bowl-shaped lip petal with purple veins etymology- from the Latin, Cypris- Venus, Cyprus was the birthplace of the Goddess Venus; -pedium- slipper, referring to the shape of the lip petal of the flower applications- rare and difficult to cultivate, do not consider using for herbal or other applications. Dew from this plant has been used for flower essence therapy. CAUTION: Consult
