other names- Shasta Star Tulip, Naked Mariposa-Lily, Naked Star Tulip, Sierra Star Tulip habitat- moist, grassy areas, wet bogs and edges of mountain lakes from 3500 to 8000 ft range- Sierra Nevada, NW CA mountains and, CA Cascades, SW Oregon description- long linear basal leaf and slender stem, occasionally branched, up to 12" tall, bowl shaped pale lavender to purple flower(s), petals not hairy and rounded at tips, white nectary at base of petals with purple crescent above etymology- from the Greek; kallos- beautiful, corthus- grass, nudus- naked
