other names- Orange Agoseris, Mountain Dandelion habitat- moist meadows, streambanks range- CA mountains and Modoc Plateau above 4500 ft, N to Alaska, intermountain region and Great Plains from S Dakota to New Mexico description- perennial plant up to 20 in tall, hairy stem w/ several narrow leaves from base, composite flower head(s) of brick-orange ray flowers with yellow margins etymology- from the Greek; agoseris- goat chicory; aurantiaca - latin for orange applications- This plant is locally rare and should not be picked for herbal use. A related species, Agoseris glauca has been used as a laxative and dermatological aid. Do not assume that orange-flowered Agoseris shares herbal characterisitics with the common dandelion, Taraxacum officinale. CAUTION: Consult
