other names- Climbing Honeysuckle habitat- forests, thickets range- CA NW coastal and Cascade ranges from 2000 to 5000 ft, N to BC, intermountain region from Arizona N to Montana description- trailing or twining vine with hollow stems up to 15 ft long, opposite entire leaves whitish beneath, one to two pairs below inflorescence fused into cup; several to many tubular flowers with protruding stamens and pistil etymology- lonicera, after Adam Lonitzer, German herbalist and botanist whose standard herbal text was widely reprinted from the 16th ot 18th century;ciliosa - fringed, ciliate applications- leaf poultice applied externally for bruises, a leaf or bark tea was used by Native Americans to treat wet yin conditions, to stimulate milk flow and for female reproductive concerns.
